That’s a wrap on The Extras Dept 2025! Today is our final day in the office before we close the doors and go for a festive celebration.
After an intense 2024, the universe decided we needed a break in 2025 (maybe to prepare us for 2026). It was a much quieter year but we still had a lot of fun casting extras across a variety productions like Titanic Sinks Tonight, Crookhaven, Faraway Home, and Ellis S2.
It was nice to have some downtime, but now we are all busting to sink our teeth into some serious extras casting. Yet again, the universe heard our pleas and has delivered as it looks like 2026 will be a big one!! We can’t say too much, but expect the return of some old favourites along with some exciting new projects. We think there’ll be something for everyone next year, so if you didn’t get a call up this year don’t be disheartened. Next year could be your year! If you have some time over the holidays, we encourage you to take a look at your profile and make sure it’s all up to date and looking good. What do we look for in a profile?
• Your picture looks like you right now! Particularly men – the difference between a couple inches of hair or beard length can make a big difference in getting you checked and cast for the right roles.
• Your picture is clear, from the waist up, and taken in front of a blank background. You should be facing the camera, hair worn down and no hats. Professional headshots are not what we’re looking for.
• Correct measurements. Go to the pound shop and pick yourself up a soft measuring tape. If you’re unsure how to take your measurements, there are plenty of tutorials on YouTube to help you. Keep that measuring tape on hand, as you may need to update them periodically, or one day we might ask you for an unusual measurement like your head circumference. If you can get us an accurate measurement quickly we (and the costume department) will love you.
• Have you taken up any new hobbies or acquired any new skills? Add them in the skill section! You never know what will come up or what we will need.
• If you’ve had any new tattoos, particularly ones that are visible
We weren’t able to do our Festive Food Drive this year but have plans to bring it back for 2026 to celebrate what should be a great year. In the meantime, we would encourage everyone to give back to the community in whatever way they can this time of year. If you need ideas some of our favourite charities are:
