2016 got a lot of flak for being a terrible year – some have even dubbed it the worst year in the history of the universe. Sure, some bad things happened but we here at The Extras Dept HQ always look on the bright side of life. Our stats for the infamous 2016 are in and we couldn’t be prouder. We had a great year!
Total number of man days: 8,593
Number of extras across all productions: 2,344
Number of extras who worked multiple days: 1,272
Average number of days per extra: 3.5
This is the equivalent of 34 people employed full time!
We had 9 major productions come through our offices along with several commercials and smaller jobs. Our highest extras numbers were courtesy of Game of Thrones followed by the BBC police drama Line of Duty.
2017 is going to be a huge year for us. We’re turning ten years old and we have a few surprises up our sleeves. We cannot wait to see what this year has in store and we’re so excited to share it with all of you. So watch this space!
